A family potato farm with operations in Waikerie is in the spotlight after it received international recognition for its contributions to the industry on the world stage.

The 2024 World Potato Congress (WPC), held in Adelaide from June 23 to 26, saw Miltolo Family Farms recognised with the WPC Industry Award.

Miltolo Family Farms, which was founded in Virginia in 1972, has grown to be a major player in the global potato supply chain.

Miltolo Family Farms managing director Frank Miltolo said it was an honour to be recognised by a global network of peers.

“We were certainly humbled to win this award amongst such strong producers and industry representatives from all over the world,” he said.

“It’s testament to the incredible legacy my parents Bruno and Angela established as well as the many people who have been part of our hard-working team over the 50-year journey.

“To be amongst industry peers makes this one particularly special and is fantastic recognition for everyone in our business – from my parents right through to our packers on the shed floor.”

The award also marked the first time an Australian grower was recognised during the WPC.
