CWA Narrandera Evening Branch is celebrating another huge success with their International Food Fair on Saturday.

The weather was perfect and the community came out in droves.

CWA President Beryl Brain was ecstatic with the results of the day.

“We estimated the crowd to be over 1,200 people nearly 20 per cent more than last year.

“There were over 30 food and market stalls on offer, again a further increase on last year’s stall numbers,” she said.

The food options available were Afghani, Fijian and Australian BBQ, Malaysian cuisine, Chinese savoury and sweets, American southern foods and hot dogs, Bush tucker, home cooking, delicious sweets, ice-cream, donuts and popcorn.

There also were several coffee vans in attendance.

Market stalls included clothing, toys, jewellery and accessories, wall art, collectibles, women’s and children’s clothing, resin products, cheeses and organic dog treats/toys.

Free children’s activities included a jumping castle, face painting and fun activities provided by Fusion.

The entertainment program included Sharon Benjamin, River Country, Iron Bark String Band, River of Life Church group, the Solomon Islander dancers and the Narrandera East School performing their Wiradjuri song.

The beautiful weather allowed the crowd to take advantage of the seating area to sit, eat and listen to great music.

Spirit FM brought their broadcast van and kept up lively commentary during the event.

The CWA would like to thank their major sponsors Stromlo Energy, Manildra Group and The Yard for their fantastic support.

The branch also extended thanks to minor sponsors Books on East, Australia Post Narrandera Post Shop, Fred Cole Betta Living Narrandera and Leeton, Narrandera Bakery and Narrandera Pizzeria who provided prizes for the raffle.

Thanks for Food Fair funding

A shout out to the small organising committee of Beryl Brain, Meaghan Aitchison, Josie Marks, Brenda Hartmire, Janine Gilchrist and Carol Smith.

“Finally we want to thank Narrandera Shire Council who lent items/assistance for the event and to Multicultural NSW for the Stronger Together Festivals and Events funding that allowed us to run the Food Fair this year.”
