Clarence Valley to welcome 29 graduate nurses and midwives

Recent stories

More than 190 graduate nurses and midwives will commence work throughout the Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) in 2024.

They are among more than 3400 graduate nurses and midwives to begin work across the state this year.

In the Clarence Valley, 18 graduate nurses and midwives will start working at Grafton Base Hospital (GBH), while a further 11 will commence work at Maclean District Hospital within the next 12 months.

Katharine Duffy, NNSWLHD Director of Nursing and Midwifery, said they will play a vital role in the region’s busy health services while providing patients with high quality, compassionate care.

“The graduates will gain invaluable experience across a broad range of clinical settings, as well as in community healthcare,” she said.

“We’re pleased to be welcoming a record number of new graduate nurses and midwives across the NNSWLHD this year, and to also offer these staff permanent roles which support our efforts to grow and train a sustainable local health workforce.

“Our nursing and midwifery service has some incredible mentors and teachers who will nurture these new graduates to develop in their chosen specialties.

“Depending on their interests, they’ll have the opportunities to take part in excellent research projects or develop their leadership skills to take their healthcare, and their careers, to the next level.”
