Recent stories

Karen Jones, Tennant & District Times

Tennant Creek Speedway had been forefront of motor sports throughout the NT over the last couple of weeks.

Jamie Jones was nominated for 2023 Junior Driver and 2023 Rising Star in the Motor sport NT awards.

He was nominated alongside competitors from 22 other NT Motorsports clubs.

Jamie was overall winner for the Motorsports NT 2023 Rising Star award.

He thanked all of his supporters, sponsors and those who have helped him in the last year.

Alongside Jamie, the following were nominated for their part in Motorsports NT: Jack Yates for Senior Driver of the Year, Diana Sawers for Official of the Year and Aiden James for Volunteer of the Year.

They may not have won but they are all champions in our eyes and keep motorsports alive in Tennant Creek.

Lastly in the Motorsport arena team Harden Up Racing showed its dominance at the Arunga Park Speedway President Cup.

Tennant Creek was represented by Connor Carse, Jayden Geizendanner, Aiden James, Lucas Fry and Jack Yates.

In the Juniors, Connor was off to a good start in the first heat but, due to a bingle, was unable to compete for the rest of the night.

In the street stocks, Jayden also went out hard but, due to mechanical issues, didn’t finish the night.

This left it up to Jack, Aiden and Lucas.

Against the Alice crew they were determined to bring it home.

Jack came in first with Aiden and Lucas close behind.

Great driving.
