Young speedway racer competes in national junior titles tonight

Recent stories

Jamie Jones, a Junior Sedan driver from Tennant Creek Speedway, is currently competing in the 2024 SSA Junior Sedan National Titles in Grafton, New South Wales.

The finals will be held tonight at the Grafton Speedway, where Jamie will be racing alongside 76 other juniors from across Australia.

Three other NT Drivers, Darwin junior River Spitzbarth and Jacob Foley and Jess Foley from Alice Springs, will also be joining him.

Jamie has been racing sedans since he was 11 years old and this will be his last national title as a junior, as he will be moving into a senior class when he turns 17.

He said that speedway has allowed him to meet new people and make friendships all over Australia, and racing has given him some of his most memorable moments.

These include placing 6th in the 2023 NT Titles against fast racers across Australia and winning a heat in the SA 2023 Junior Sedan Title.

He also remembers one of his craziest moments, when he flipped his car in Katherine – it was like a wild show ride! Jamie expressed his gratitude to all his sponsors and supporters who have supported him throughout his junior career, including Tennant Creek Speedway, Motorsports NT and Speedway Sedans NT.

He also thanked his sponsors Remote Concrete NT, Tennant Creek Service Station, Central Ward NT Litchfield Councillor Kev Harlan, Lions Club Tennant Creek, Little Rippers Lifestyles, Sassafras Yamba and Barkly MLA Steve Edgington.

For those who are interested, Jamie will be racing his Daihatsu Charade (number 51) live tonight on Clay-Per-View https://www.clayperview.com/products/19th-jan-2024-grafton
