This 1.5-metre goanna found itself in trouble earlier this month when it became stranded at the base of Torrumbarry Weir.
Goulburn-Murray Water Senior Storage Officer, Luke Simpson, found the tired and distressed looking goanna hanging on to the bottom of the weir gate when he was doing his daily routine inspections, and set about concocting a rescue plan.
Attaching a log to a gantry crane, he lowered it 8 metres and positioned it near the goanna.
It took around 15 minutes, but as if it knew it was the focus of a rescue effort, it climbed on the log and held on.
The log was slowly lifted up and out to the bank, where the goanna was given a feast of carp before wandering into the bush.
