Dry weather changes plans

Recent stories

The planned Gardens of the Downs tour for Greenmount and Vale View has been altered due to the lack of rain.

The three gardens at Greenmount will no longer be open for viewing, although the garden of Tonia and Paul Grundy at Vale View will still be open.

Visitors will be able to experience the Japanese-style stroll garden at 274 Luck Road, Vale View from 9am to 5pm on Sunday, 22 October.

Please note there is a 120-metre walk up a moderate rise on a sealed road from the car park area to the garden.

The entry cost is $5, cash only, with proceeds donated to Toowoomba Hospice.

Proceeds from an on-site coffee cart support the Hospice as well.

Gardens of the Downs had this to say about the garden: Only a decade old and never before open to the public, this stunning acre of garden showcases a wide range of clipping and pruning techniques.

Enjoy the beautifully presented hedges and feature plants, Japanese lanterns, and the cool embrace of a bamboo grove, and take in the view from the well-placed pagoda.

Ponder life next to the raked dry garden bed or delight in the small waterfall and stream that flows to a scenic pond with water lilies in bloom.
