Unfunded concept design includes Pipidinny Rd intersection

Recent stories

A concept design to extend the dual carriageway of Wanneroo Rd to include the Pipidinny Rd intersection has been completed, according to Main Roads WA.

“Main Roads completed a concept design for the extension of the dual carriageway of Wanneroo Rd just south of Bernard Rd North to just north of Pipidinny Rd in 2021 however, this is not currently funded for construction,’’ a Main Roads spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, crash data for the Wanneroo Rd and Pipidinny Rd intersection shows for the five-year period up until the end of 2022, there were 18 crashes, of which, one resulted in hospitalisation, four required medical treatment and 13 resulted in property damage.

Due to construction of the Yanchep rail extension, Pipidinny Rd was temporarily closed to allow the construction of the road-over-rail bridge at Pipidinny Rd, the widening of Pipidinny Rd and the installation of a new sewer line under Pipidinny Rd to service Eglinton station.

Pipidinny Rd re-opened in late March early April this year with a reduced speed limit.

The spokeswoman also said Main Roads was not currently undertaking a study of Indian Ocean Dr between Breakwater Dr and the Wanneroo and Pipidinny roads intersection but upgrade options for the intersection of Wanneroo Rd and Yanchep Beach Rd were in the early stages of development.

These are the latest crash stats publicly available, crash stats for 2023 will only be available next April following a comprehensive audit process.
