Yanchep to host WA Pedal Prix Perth events

The Splendid Park criterium track will transform into a fast-paced arena of pedal-powered prowess on Saturday, June 13 as the WA Pedal Prix series moves to the start of the Perth based events.

Students, riders, teams, and spectators will come together for one of Western Australia’s most exhilarating human-powered vehicle events.

Pedal Prix racing is a fun multidisciplinary sport that incorporates design, engineering, physical fitness and teamwork into a race setting.

It is undertaken in recumbent bikes which race over a closed circuit trying to complete as many laps as possible.

A WA Human Powered Vehicle Association (WAHPVA) spokesman said Yanchep was a much-loved day-night event as racing started mid-afternoon and transitioned into a full night event.

Splendid Park in Yanchep is Western Australia’s first UCI-standard criterium circuit, designed specifically for competitive cycling.

“Yanchep is the fastest track we race on, so you’ll see fast, close racing with non-stop action,” said WAHPVA chairman Brendin Webb.

“It blends the enthusiasm of riders and the thrill of racing into an unforgettable day that brings people together.”

The 1.4km Yanchep circuit and dedicated facilities make it an ideal venue for the fast Pedal Prix trikes.

The free event runs from 2pm to 8pm.
