Barkly vet gears up for desexing blitz

Recent stories

Pet lovers in the Barkly can soon take up the offer to have their dogs or cats desexed for free as part of a blitz to curb roaming animals in the town.

Running from 14-18 August, the desexing blitz will be free for residents who are on Centrelink benefits and find it hard to come up with the money for the procedure.

The initiative is being funded by the Tennant Creek Local Authority, and is being coordinated by the Barkly Regional Council and Barkly Vet.

Its aim is to prevent unwanted litters of puppies and kittens in the area. Additionally, desexing pets can reduce their tendency to roam and fight with other animals, and also lower their risk of developing painful cancers.

To book your beloved pet in, contact the Barkly Vet on 0447 471 399.
