West Coast Fever goal attack Sasha Glasgow has written herself into the Suncorp Netball Super League record books.

Glasgow, of Moonta Bay, produced a league-best performance against the Queensland Firebirds on Sunday, May 21.

After a week off with Covid, Glasgow and goal shooter Jhaniele Fowler created a new record for goals scored by any team in the 97-63 win.

Glasgow also broke the record she previously held jointly for super shots converted in a game, with 14 from 20 attempts.

“We broke the previous record of most goals scored in a game with about six minutes to go — the previous record was in the mid-80s, it was either 85 or 86 — so I did joke with Jhaniele about getting to three figures,” Glasgow said.

“The super shot record was previously 10 — the trio of Sam Wallace, Helen Housby and I share that.

“I did play basketball with the Arthurton Tigers, but I’d always wanted to be a good long-range shooter in netball.

“So ever since the early days, I practised the long-range shots a lot.”

Glasgow is one of five siblings and she said it was always highly competitive in any sport contest at home.

“My sister Isabelle is about 16 months older than me, while my brother Isaac is also about that much younger.

“It was always very competitive at home,” she said.

“Then Isabelle and I worked out we could play together and enjoyed a flag at the Cougars under Naomi Davey.

“She (Naomi) is the reason I play netball, playing a key role in me getting involved in the elite pathways and into the state system.

“I still speak to her regularly and she has been a key mentor in my netball journey.”

As the season gets closer to finals, Glasgow said she felt the Fever was capable of back-to-back championships.

“In this competition, you just can’t get ahead of yourself, as it’s so tight,” she said.

“We have lost three games by a goal or so, and that’s the difference between top and third.

“It is that close and you just can’t let your guard down.”
