The move will deliver Oztix clients wider regional exposure and marketing capacity and offer more advanced ticketing solutions for local and regional event organisers

Oztix and Localtix, Joint Media Release, 30 May 2023

Australia’s largest independent ticketing company, Oztix, today announced the acquisition of Local Tickets — a smaller, rival ticketing agency specialising in local events Australia-wide. Local Tickets has been rebranded to Localtix, effectively immediately, and all Local Tickets clients will automatically have access to an expanded suite of Oztix product features as part of the companies coming together. Additionally, Oztix events will now be populated across 70 local ticket marketplaces, greatly expanding the marketing potential for events ticketed by Oztix.

Oztix co-founder and Managing Director, Stuart Field, said the acquisition is a ‘two-brand’ market strategy, poised to cover the entire breadth of ticketing, from major venues, festivals, and expos, right through to hyper-local events and experiences.

“This acquisition reflects our 20-year leadership and investment in the Australian events industry.  Local Tickets is a well-respected ticketing agency with over a decade of regional event experience.   They are agile and innovative and offer one of the best ticket-selling apps on the market.  Together the two brands will service both big and smaller events, in urban hotspots and regional corners of the country,” said Field.

Local Tickets Founder and CEO Kristen Goldup joins as Brand Director across Oztix and Localtix:

“Our brands and product offerings are entirely complimentary, and after just one meeting with Oztix, it was clear that we had great synergy and shared a mutual culture of putting our clients first.   My Local Tickets clients will benefit greatly from access to a new collaborative platform, and even more eyeballs will be on our local tickets marketplace websites with Oztix events being listed” said Goldup.

In continued service of existing clients, ticket buyers and the wider regional event industry, All Local Tickets employees will join Oztix. Together the businesses employ over 50 Australian-based staff and hundreds of contractors each year, and are expected to inject over $350 million into the Australian economy this year.

“Both of our businesses compete with foreign-owned ticketing agencies in our respective market spaces.  It’s been inspiring to see such a strong conscious shift by consumers, businesses and the government to proactively support the Aussie companies and entrepreneurs who are doing their part to help our country financially recover and grow, post-COVID,” said Oztix Co-founder and Director, Brian Chladil.

Oztix celebrates 20 years in the ticketing industry this year, leading the market in venue, festival and expo ticketing for events such as Big Red Bash, Crafted Beer & Cider Festival, Good Things Festival, and Summernats. Local Tickets counts a wide range of agricultural shows, rodeos, turf clubs, and hospitality events amongst its client base, with a large number of events taking place in regional Australia.

About Oztix: Oztix is Australia’s largest independent ticketer. The company was born under an old Queenslander in sunny Brisbane back in 2003, and today, it sells close to 3 million tickets each year. A dedicated team of 50 people across Australia help event organisers, promoters and agencies sell tickets across a large range of event categories — from music festivals to arena shows, sporting matches, family events, exhibitions, agricultural shows, and art galleries. Along with Localtix, a ticketing agency that Oztix acquired in 2023, the company is able to serve the needs of hyperlocal, regional events right up to the world’s most in-demand artists and sell-out festivals. Ticket Solutions Pty Ltd is the Australian-owned parent company of Oztix, Localtix, Heatseeker and NZTix.

About Localtix: Local Tickets was founded by regional tourism entrepreneur Kristen Goldup in 2011 in response to a lack of suitable online solutions to ticket the events of her regional and rural clients. Today, as Localtix, the company sits as part of national ticketing company Oztix, leveraging its 70+ local online ticketing domains to drive ticket sales and visibility for events that include large-scale annual agricultural shows like the Gympie Show and Bundaberg Show, huge rodeo experiences like the iconic Mt Isa Rodeo, racing cup days, regional tourism events, all the way through to simple DIY events.
