International Food Fair a roaring success

Recent stories

CWA Narrandera Evening Branch was delighted with the huge success of its International Food Fair at the Marie Bashir Park on Saturday.

The branch was amazed with the public’s response to what it organised as it far exceeded expectations.

“It was fabulous to see so many people there, enjoying the entertainment, purchasing food and items from the stalls and the children having fun with the activities/amusements,” said branch spokesperson Josie Marks.

Thanks were extended to the various people and bodies that made the event such a great success. These were:

  • Firstly the NSW government for funding received under the Reconnecting Regional NSW Community Events program – the event could not have been run without it.
  • Narrandera Shire Council which assisted the branch to get the funding and helped with many aspects of the organisation. Thanks in particular to Tiffany Thornton and Brenda Hartmire for their assistance and advice.
  • Manildra for their kind sponsorship – thanks to Aaron Hall and his team for organising this support.
  • Narrandera Soroptimists who provided their trailer and donut machines and also came along to help the branch out with the first time using it.
  • Zavier Beecham (who gave the Acknowledgement of Country), Beryl Brain the branch President, Mayor Neville Kschenka for his kind words about the work of CWA and to Steph Cooke MP for Cootamundra who officially opened the event.
  • Leeton Multicultural Council who kindly organised some of the food stalls – thanks particularly to Susie Rowe who helped out on the day.
  • Entertainers for their fantastic music, singing, dancing and children’s activities. Special thanks to Narrandera East Infants School (and Liss Routley) and St Joseph’s Primary School (and Lizzy Walsh) for their wonderful performances. Also to John and Anita Houldsworth from the Three Tiers who organised the sound and helped out with announcements.
  • Narrandera Public School for organising the art work for the Art Display on this year’s CWA Country of Study – Latvia.
  • To all stall holders – it was fantastic that so many came.
  • To the fabulous CWA members who helped out in so many ways (and to their husbands/brothers/friends who stepped up on the day doing so much of the heavy lifting). A special thanks to Heidi Logemann and Josie Marks the event coordinators who went above and beyond in the lead-up and on the day.
  • Lastly to all the people from Narrandera and surrounds who came (and stayed) throughout the day. A survey is available on the branch’s Facebook page for anyone who attended to provide feedback.
