Barry Crouch of Kaniva, representing Kaniva Rifle Club, recently won the state champions in target rifle in Bendigo.
Barry has had a long family connection and love for rifle shooting, with both his father and uncle being keen rifle shooters and his sister won the champion of champions in Bendigo as a junior in 1977 and 1978.
Barry won the competition from a field of 12 shooters representing clubs from across the state.
Each rifle club in Victoria is eligible to send its champion.
Each participant aims at targets from a variety of ranges anywhere between 300 yards and 1,000 yards depending on the range.
In Bendigo they shot at 600, 700 and 900 yards.
Barry’s final score was 146.16 out of a possible 150 points, giving him the title of Champion of Champions.
