Council meetings on the move

In a bid to re-connect with Lucindale and Frances, the Naracoorte Lucindale Council will meet at least once in both towns.

The meetings are on the move following a motion by Cr Abigail Goodman to meet in these areas instead of holding meetings at the Naracoorte and Lucindale council chambers all the time.

Cr Goodman moved that the council meeting to be held on the 26th of April be held at Lucindale in the Lucindale Council Office, and the August council meeting be held in the Netball Club rooms at Frances.

At council’s February 28 meeting, discussion included splitting the motion into two, with council meeting just at Lucindale first as a trial.

But Cr Goodman refused the idea and maintained her Motion with Notice as it read.

She said the Naracoorte Lucindale Council area was a big one and this was a way to encourage members of the community to attend meetings and take an interest in council matters.

Cr Goodman moved that the council meeting to be held on the 26th of April be held at Lucindale in the Lucindale Council Office, and that the August council meeting be held at Frances in Netball Clubrooms.

Seconded by Cr Tom Dennis, the motion was carried unanimously.

A second motion with notice was withdrawn by Cr Goodman about an independent review of the Lucindale Masterplan.

The motion was for a facilitator to work with the Lucindale community to re-shape and re-prioritise the actions to deliver a Masterplan that has the support of the community.

Meanwhile, the council administration has issued a press release inviting “interested community members” to take part in a Community Walkaround of Lucindale’s Musgrave Avenue immediately after the SE Field Days on Monday, March 20 between 5pm and 6pm.

People wanting to participate are urged to meet at the Lucindale deli at 5pm.

“This will be an opportunity to have a face-to-face chat about the outcomes of the Musgrave Avenue

survey undertaken in late 2022 and for council administration to seek further feedback on new ideas

and projects suggested” the statement says.

It suggests those interested could view four documents including stage 1 of the Lucindale masterplan, Musgrave Avenue consultation report, survey, information sheet and poster.
