Locals dig deep to help eightballer get to NSW Hall of Fame induction

Recent stories

There are occasions when living in a small town is just amazing and you are reminded of the good in the world. Several years ago local identity Greg Jordan (AKA Wheelie) competed and won the team World 8 Ball Championship in England.

Over the years he has been heavily involved with the Tennant 8 Ball Association. This week Wheelie was notified he will be inducted into the World 8 Ball Hall of Fame at the Australian National Championships in Albury in just a fortnight.

Once the initial excitement wore off and reality set in, he realised that getting there was just not going to be financially possible.

Enter his friend Kate Foran, who had no intention of letting him miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime event. Kate, who is also president of the Tennant Creek Lions Club, put the word out and within hours had raised more than enough money for Wheelie to reach Albury in time for his induction.

Wheelie said he is touched, humbled and grateful to all those who have contributed, including very special contributions from the Tennant Creek 8 Ball Association, Sporties Club and local resident Greg Marlow.
