Peter Sedgwick, President Maldon Bowls Club
Last Wednesday, 14 September, Maldon hosted the season’s First Triples Competition. Twelve teams of three competed.
The participating players came from Maldon, Talbot, Carisbrook, Avoca, Dunolly, Harcourt, Maryborough Golf and Maryborough Highland.
Some very close games were played in cold but fine weather. Only one point separated the three top teams after the three games of 10 ends.
Winners on the day were the Maryborough Highland team, skippered by Greg Shay, on 81 points. Runners-up were the Harcourt Team on 80 points.
Players enjoyed the day, and a big thank you goes to the Maldon Bowls members who spent time brushing the rinks, cleaning the club rooms and making sandwiches for afternoon tea.
Thank you to the major sponsor for the day, Maldon IGA Supermarket. Raffle sponsors were Maldon Quality Butchers, Warral Maldon and Waller Realty.

With the weather improving and the season about to start, there are some dates to remember. Saturday Pennant begins on Saturday, 15 October.
