Denmark singer-songwriter Marianna Greenham’s return to music after 30 years has produced works which are now widely adopted for family-life challenges.

Marianna, 71, will perform at the Denmark Artshouse later this month presenting her earlier songs as well as many new ones. This follows her appearance at this year’s Festival of Voice and a return to music which she says has been good for her soul.

Her first new single since her musical hiatus, Catch You, was written for her grandson. The song focuses on what happens when a grandparent becomes a full-time grandcarer.

“I thought the best way to share this tricky time in life with other grand-parents would be to put my feelings in a song and video,” Marianna said.

Parenting author, educator and speaker Maggie Dent is using the song as an information resource for grandparents experiencing similar circumstances.

Another of Marianna’s latest songs, Hey Guys, has been taken on by Anglicare Australia for use in their nationwide mums and dads forever courses.

This Anglicare program is designed to help divorcing parents, going through Family Court proceedings, to create better communication, respect and cooperation between parties.

Hey Guys is a gentle but powerful song, giving a voice to all those children dealing with split-family issues, ” Marianna said.

Her 30-year break from music resulted from the need to focus on caring for her daughter who was ill and her grandson who needed parental care.

“Now that my grandson has grown and left home I have time to return to songwriting and recording music,” Marianna said.

She has also achieved success with some of her earlier works. The album, Sunny Day Dreams, was sold through the ABC-Shop and recommended by the Australian Society of Music Education.
