Jack’s the new legal eagle in town

Recent stories

As they said in the days of the old wild west, Jack Langley is the new law-man in town – but not in the gunslinger sense.

The 23-year-old Narrandera resident recently became a solicitor with Farrell Goode Solicitors at his admission ceremony where one of the judges on the bench was Justice Natalie Adams, who is originally from Narrandera.

It’s been a long hard slog for Mr Langley to reach his recent achievement but a journey he does not regret.

“It feels like it’s taken a long time to get here but on the whole it’s been incredible,” Mr Langley said.

“I took up the position here in a gap year and was then offered the chance to carry out my legal studies.

“I did distance learning with the University of New England.

“I had a few sleepless nights with work and study, but it’s been well worthwhile.”

Mr Langley said it had been a great experience since he accepted the role with the local solicitors four years ago.

“Growing up with family and with my roots being in the town is a good thing,” Mr Langley said.

“It means I have that connection and awareness.”

Mr Langley is mostly involved in general law matters but has not ruled out a subject in which he could specialise in.

“In terms of specialising I’d like the farming succession law side of things,” he said.

“That’s mainly looking at intergenerational transfers and how to achieve the best business model for the clients.”

Farrell Goode solicitor director Jason Goode is delighted to have the new addition on board.

Jack started with us after he finished high school, so he worked with us and carried out his studies at night,” Mr Goode said.

It’s a huge effort to do that – to knock off work and then study for several hours.

“He knows the background to a lot of local issues, so having his knowledge of local people really helps our firm.

“We traditionally struggle to get solicitors in rural areas – he is a great asset to the business.”

Mr Langley’s admission ceremony took place at the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

He is a former student of the Narrandera High School and the son of Justin and Kathy Langley of Paynters Siding.
