Paintings made into puzzles, recycled metal sculptures, and the Penola RSL’s artistic showcase of ‘Animals in Wartime’ are just some of the eclectic exhibitions on show over the weekend of May 12 – 15 as part of the 2022 Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival.
Cellar Doors, retail outlets, halls, vineyards and historic homes will be abuzz for festival goers to explore and participate in a range of events.
Visitors to the festival are invited to join hands-on art experiences including watercolours at historic Yallum Park, contemporary painting with Matthew Brookes at Redman Wines and a recycled beach rope basket making workshop with renowned artist JoJo Spook at Di Giorgio wines. Raidis Estate will host an ‘Autumn Season’ painting session led by Mount Gambier artists Ruth Stephenson and Pariya Ziakas, whilst Koonara welcomes local illustrator Rene Veno to guide a fashion illustration workshop.
With over fifty events including exhibitions, comedy, music, competitions, workshops, food and wine offerings, the 2022 Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival is set to celebrate thirty years since its inception. The weekend will culminate in Sunday’s Family ‘pARTy’ at Mary MacKillop School Oval and Down the Lane festivities of food, wine and music.
