Rain, hail or shine

Despite the constant drizzle of rain, the Maldon Easter Parade was a smashing hit.

Large crowds huddled under historic awnings watching the colourful entrants as they braved the wet weather to cheers from onlookers.

There was a colourful array of umbrellas keeping entrants dry as they walked or even cycled! The fortunate ones, those in CFA and SES trucks or vintage cars, waved happily as the procession took its customary second lap of Main Street.

The real troopers were the colourfully dressed school children, the men and women playing the bagpipes, and of course, the all-important Easter Bunny, getting progressively wetter as the morning wore on. Not to mention the soggy orange traffic cones (human-sized and walking on two legs) protesting the re-routing of the Easter Festival on High Street.

The only thing missing was the all-important egg toss….maybe next year?
