The Riverina State, Media Release, 9 April 2022

Anthony Albanese

Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party have affirmed their decision to remove another 450 gigalitres of water, in addition to the 2750 gigalitres already removed via the Basin Plan, from productive use in NSW and Victoria. Most, if not all, of this water will be sourced from The Riverina and northern Victoria.

Both the NSW Coalition and Victorian Labor State governments voluntarily sign up to the Basin Plan every year in return for Federal Government monetary grants. These states are actually selling the people in The Riverina and northern Victoria out.

The Riverina State will have authority over all the water within its area, and will use this water in the manner most beneficial to its people. This State is needed urgently.
