With Easter being such a busy time of year for holidaymakers, it’s no surprise that those from the city look forward to a much-needed escape to the country – with beautiful autumn weather showcasing nature at its best, great local produce, and a variety of shopping to enjoy.

The majority of tourists to our region come from the hustle and bustle of down south, in particular Melbourne, Ballarat and Geelong. So, when they visit, we welcome them with that great country hospitality and friendliness, making sure that their shopping and dining experience is a memorable one.

Kerang retailers eagerly await the arrival of tourists at Easter and school holidays which is always the busiest time of year for visitors. Both retail and hospitality have taken a beating these last couple of years as we know, but that has been felt even harder in the country. However, if there is one thing they have learned through the experience it is resilience, and during these holidays, they are excited about the events attracting people back to the area.

Bec Hewitt of The Little Shoe Shop –

“We’re looking forward to a busy Easter with all the events in Kerang and surrounding areas. People will be out camping and enjoying the last of the good weather with family and friends. I understand that COVID-19 is still going to be around, but it’s something we’re just going to have to live with and take precautionary measures. There is so much going on this Easter which, as a community, so many volunteers have put in such hard work behind the scenes to pool these events together. The passion and energy that goes into these events clearly shows when you see the result. Kerang has such a strong community spirit where all the entities of volunteers collaborate as one and support each other.”

Gavin of Gravity Clothing –

“There’s plenty to do here this year with tennis, the races, bowls, markets and the sidewalk sale. Camping is always great this time of year and in the shop here, we hope to see our regulars as well as new faces. It’s a great time to get out of the city and chill in the country air.”

Julie of Loddon Valley Disposals –

“I hope there’s an influx of visitors to come and see our area, it’s such a lovely shire. We have plenty of stock instore that we would like to showcase and with so much happening over Easter with tennis, football, the races and everything else, it’s a great time to come and visit Kerang. Come and see our beautiful wetlands and stop for a coffee and a shop.”

Melissah of Ubiquitous Designs –

“I’m looking forward to seeing tourists come over to check out what the town has to offer. This is my first Easter in my new shop, so it will be interesting to see what happens. Kerang – and the entire district – is a relaxing place to be and to get away from the hustle and bustle. Kerang is right in the centre of some other great country towns that are all close to one another, so why not take advantage of seeing all that this great country atmosphere has to offer.”

Erin, Marti and Jess of The Tailored Peach –

“It’s usually a very busy time with lots of visitors, and hopefully, we get to see some new faces as well. There will be plenty going on around the place to attract locals as well as visitors. It’s the best time of year to go camping and the lovely weather is a huge drawcard. Make a long weekend of it or spend a few days between all our towns. You’ll be guaranteed great food, shopping and things to do to keep everybody busy. We are fully stocked for those looking for something new for the wardrobe…”

Be sure to put Kerang on your list of places to visit these Easter holidays; they value your support, and their gratitude will show through the service you will receive.
