Cedar Creek sold under the hammer

Recent stories

A Queensland producer with relocation plans has bought the 5,106 hectare Cedar Creek holding in central Queensland for $23.36 million at auction.

Located seven kilometres south east of Gogango and 64 kilometres south west of Rockhampton, Cedar Creek had been held for more than 40 years in the same family, by Jan Adam and her son Robert Williams, and had been put together by Jan’s late father Nelson Ohl.

Its long-term manager of 43 years, Kelvin Howkins is retiring.

Nutrien Harcourts GDL’s Damien Freney and Bill Hamilton managed the marketing and sale, which included operating plant and equipment.

Cedar Creek has a mix of brigalow and softwood scrub soils, alluvial scrub and forest flats merging into forest rises that support 2,500 adult equivalents. Improved pastures consist of Buffel, Rhodes, Green Panic and soft native grasses interspersed throughout, while timbers include Brigalow, Belah, Blackbutt, Bauhinia, Box and Ironbark with Blue Gums along the creek flats.

There is 45 hectares of cultivation irrigated by a four-span centre pivot and side roller irrigators.

It is well-watered by 15 dams, semi-permanent holes along the creeks, a stock bore and irrigation bore.

Thirteen freehold titles are subdivided into main paddocks with holding squares and laneways to the yards. Timber cattle yards comfortably work 400 head with water and cooler yard, race, crush, calf cradle and dipping facility.

Improvements include a four-bedroom homestead with solar power, split systems and 10,000 gallons of rainwater storage, and two workers cottages separate from main home.

Cedar Creek also has haysheds, large machinery shed, workshop and 240-ton silo storage.
