Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Media Release, 2 September 2021
The Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI) and the Australian Business Council Dubai (ABCD) are delighted to jointly host with Dubai FDI the webinar focused on one of the key industry sectors – Food & Agribusiness.
With a population of just under 10 million and growing, the UAE is the leading food consumer within the GCC. Apart from its strong macroeconomic and demographic factors, tourism plays a vital role in boosting food consumption, with the highest inflow of tourists among all GCC countries. Currently the desert Gulf Arab states rely on food imports for 80-90% of local demand. The continued challenge to secure and create sustainable food sources combined with future and growing health trends drives the quest for new technological solutions that support farming in arid climates, enable efficient irrigation and promote local organic food production. In addition, the UAE’s strategic location and strong logistics sector are a significant link in the region’s food chain. The country has become the world’s third largest re-exporter of food.
Companies interested in expanding their businesses offshore or export diversification through accessing high potential new markets are invited to attend.
