Manning family sell SA pastoral after 86 years

Recent stories

The Manning family has brought to a close 86 years of ownership of Mahanewo, selling the 119,000 hectare station in South Australia’s far north for close to $4.5 million.

A farming family from the mid-north of the state bought the prime pastoral country on a walk-in, walk-out basis including 4,596 merino ewes, rams and plant, after two years of looking to diversify into grazing.

Located 190 kilometres north of Port Augusta, the country has significant coverage of bush country suited to sheep breeding and wool production. Mahanewo has a pastoral board rating of 10,500 dry sheep equivalent and has been conservatively stocked.

Three significant pipeline systems deliver water to most paddocks, as well as two bores, eight wells, 12 dams and 11 staging tanks.

Simon McIntyre of Nutrien Harcourts was the selling agent.
