Mining Minister Nicole Manison was in town to check out the progress of the highly anticipated Castile Resources’ Rover 1 project, 80km south-west of Tennant Creek.

Senior Geologist Steve Russell said Minister Manison visited the Rover Mineral Field, covering 1,054 square kilometre of granted tenure to visit the two-drill rigs, meet the troops and inspect the camp facilities.

The Rover 1 site has a 14-man camp, generator and communication facilities with all messing provided to the workers.

Castile Resources Senior Geologist Steve Russell said the Minister met the drill crew, had a bite to eat and checked out Rover 1 drill core.

The Rover 1 project is targeting high grade gold and copper zones associated with massive magnetite ironstone (IOCG), similar to the mines around Tennant Creek.

Tennant Creek IOCGs have historically produced approximately 157 tonne of gold, 345,000 tonne of copper, 14,000 tonne of bismuth, 220 tonne of selenium and 56 tonne of silver from 130 mines, with the majority of production derived from 12 deposits.

Minister for Mining and Industry Nicole Manison said it was great to visit the Castile site and see first hand the hard work going on out there.

“It was great to visit the Castille Resources site near Tennant Creek and the see first hand the hard work going on out there.

“I want to see this mine get out of the ground and more mining happening around Tennant Creek because it will be great for local jobs and businesses and create more opportunities for local families,” she said.

“We look forward to hearing about the results of this project because the Territory Labor Government are focused on our mining industry, securing investment opportunities for the Territory and creating more local jobs.
