What is the Day of the Dackel you may say?
It’s when lovers of the long bodied, short legged bundles of love celebrate all things Dachshund.
Approximately 100 Dachshunds converged on Edenhope for the inaugural Day of the Dackel this weekend.
The 250 plus strong crowd enjoyed perfect weather lakeside, market stalls, food vans, a Lions sausage sizzle and a fanciful parade of Dachshunds sporting Father Christmas costumes, Cowboy regalia, Fairy wings, Sequins and Hair bows through the main street.
The Dachshund Museum was a popular attraction and the photo booth at the Art Gallery was busy with owners and pets posing for portraits.
Organiser Diane Saville was very pleased with the attendance and hopes it will become an annual event. Accommodation was almost fully booked and takeaway shops did a roaring trade, so it was a successful weekend for the regional town which like so many has been disadvantaged by the coronavirus restrictions in the past year.
