A family fun day will be held on Sunday 6 June at Jubilee Park in Beaudesert that will have music, pony rides, a jumping castle, face painting, entertainment, stalls and much more. A free morning tea will also be held at Tamborine Mountain Library on Wednesday 2 June, and in the Boonah Forecourt on Thursday 3 June.

In support of local producers, attendees at all events will have a chance to win vouchers for fresh local produce.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen encouraged Scenic Rim residents to join in the festivities and celebrate the strength and connection of our Scenic Rim communities.

“Queensland Day is a chance to share in our sense of pride in being both Australians and Queenslanders,” he said.

“It’s also a fitting time to reflect on just how lucky we are to be part of such a wonderful, diverse state that boasts such a unique culture.”

To make the day extra special, the family day at Beaudesert will begin with a ceremony to celebrate and welcome the Scenic Rim’s newest citizens of Australia.

“I hope you will join me for what promises to be a fabulous day of family fun, and celebrate what it means to be a Queenslander, our culture, heritage, people and places and our Scenic Rim history,” Cr Christensen said.

Queensland Day on 6 June marks the day in 1859 that Queen Victoria signed the letters patent proclaiming Queensland as a separate colony from New South Wales.

These events are part of the Queensland Government’s Queensland Day celebrations that run between 29 May – 6 June 2021.
