Madden-Julian Oscillation moves into central Pacific
- An Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) pulse over the central Pacific is expected to stall and weaken in the coming fortnight.
- An MJO pulse over the central Pacific typically has little influence on rainfall across northern Australia, with enhanced weather focussed around the South Pacific.
Monsoon to become inactive across northern Australia
- A monsoon trough over northern Australia is expected to break down in the coming days.
- A monsoon break period, with below-average rainfall, is expected to persist for much of the remainder of February.
