Northern Australia Food Futures Conference, 22-25 May 2023
The biennial Northern Australia Food Futures Conference, organised by NT Farmers Association, is now in its 5th year. The conference was established to promote the development of agriculture across northern Australia and to raise the profile of northern region at a national level.
Opening night success and winners honoured in first weekend of the 2023 Kangaroo Island Easter Art Exhibition
The opening weekend of the Kangaroo Island Easter Art Exhibition has been a resounding success with higher-than expected visitors, increased artist participation and healthy sales. Lori Smith winning the esteemed the Diana Keir Art Award with her oil portrait of a local Islander, called Staring at the Sun.

94th Bonalbo Show, 21-22 April 2023
The Bonalbo Show will be held on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 April at the Bonalbo Showgrounds. The Show Schedule is available online at the Bonalbo Show website – www.bonalboshow.com.au and at several locations in Bonalbo and around the district.
Narrabri Show, 5-7 May 2023
Highlights of our show this year will include : We are running a raffle and the first prize is a ride on a lawnmower sponsored by Hutchinson and Pearce. Our Diamond sponsors are Hutchinson and Pearce, Santos & Whitehaven Coal Running a rodeo for entertainment on Friday night and we have the RoofTop Express (Who performed at Sydney Royal this year) as entertainment on Saturday night.
A fair to remember
The Maldon Easter Fair has once again drawn thousands of visitors to the enchanting town, leaving everyone in awe of its remarkable community. The 146th event had it all; an ambitious celebration of the humble scone, a genuine back street billy cart race and a vividly picturesque street parade.
Rain and cold didn’t deter fans from the pull of Quamby
Despite the rain and arctic conditions, Tractor Pull enthusiasts headed to the birthplace of Tractor Pulling in Australia, Quambatook, for the Annual Easter Tractor Pull. With two lanes available at Quambatook, a mini sled was held on one side for smaller vehicles, while the other hosted the executioner sled for the larger vehicles.
Nudie Festival?
Out on the floodplain, where the towering gums and grey box line the Edward River, there is a place where, for two weekends a year, egos disappear, along with some clothes ... “Welcome to ConFest,” they said beaming, standing shirtless before me with an intricate mandala tattooed across their chest.
Festival moves with the times
This year’s Man From Snowy River Bush Festival may well be the most successful in terms of numbers judging by the early arrivals in town this week. "We have managed to overcome several turbulent years to be genuinely excited with what we have in front of us in delivering the 2023 festival," said board chair, Cameron Jackson.
Bull shows his class
Local beef stud, Challambi Charolais of Greg Greg, met with success after attending the Sydney Royal Easter Show to compete in the Charolais judging. They entered Challambi Sargent (pictured), a 19-month only bull weighing 752kgs, which went on to win his class and reserve Junior Champion.
Masking tree spirits in leather wins show ribbon
A leather mask made in a studio in Kyogle has won a second place ribbon at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Artist Mario Sanchez Huertas placed second in two categories – art picture category and creative design and won two ribbons.

Allora Landcare Group (ALG) is delighted to announce the 2nd edition of their book "A Pictorial Guide to the Birds of Allora Mountain Flora and Fauna Reserve" is now available. Since the success of the first edition in 2020 more species of bird have been identified on the Mountain with now well over 100 which suggests the Mountain's ecosystems are richer and more diverse than originally thought.
Exhibition of Wedding Gowns
The Allora Museum at 53 Warwick Street will be open this Sunday 16 April from 1 until 4pm with an extensive collection of Wedding Gowns that have been worn by local ladies over the years. The Gowns and Bridesmaid dresses have been tagged with the Bride's name and who she married.
‘It’s a family affair’: Nan helps set up winning exhibit at Royal Show
Since she was a child, Navanka Fletcher has helped her nan set up the district produce exhibit at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Her nan Lyn Cregan, 76, has been involved in setting up the Northern District exhibits for 30 years.
Musical masterpieces, maestros and mentoring in 2023 Autumn Series
A smorgasbord of chamber music combined with a chance for students to be mentored by the masters and a world premiere is in store for Border audiences in May. Murray River Fine Music present the Inventi Ensemble and pianist Benjamin Martin live in concert across three iconic venues – The Cube, Wodonga, Peregrines, Table Top, and Albury Public School Hall, Albury – on May 6-7.
