Blackbutt Annual Show, 20 May 2023

We have a Blue Light Disco at the Town Hall Friday night for the children along with a Open Mic Night and BBQ and bar at the Show ground to kick start a great weekend. The show society subsides all rides to the cost of $5.00 per ride to make the show affordable for families.

Gidgegannup Small Farm Field Day, 28 May 2023

Sunday, 28th May, 2023 – Gates open at 9.00am. $15 per adult, 16 and under free. No dogs permitted. Free Parking. This year the Honey Festival is with us again. Much more space this time so expect this to be something special. There will be talks, demonstrations, competitions and special activities for children.

International Food Fair a roaring success

CWA Narrandera Evening Branch was delighted with the huge success of its International Food Fair at the Marie Bashir Park on Saturday ... "It was fabulous to see so many people there, enjoying the entertainment, purchasing food and items from the stalls and the children having fun with the activities/amusements": branch spokesperson Josie Marks.

The David Hack classic returns

The Classic is being held at the Toowoomba Aerodrome on Sunday 21 May ... The day attracts some 400 vehicles and 30 to 40 aircrafts with some 4,000 people attending. The mix of classic vehicles and warbirds make for a unique atmosphere and this year the Jensen Car Club will hold its Club National Rally.

Charlotte represents at Pageant

Charlotte Harris, formerly of Nhill who now resides in Wodonga recently competed for the title of Miss Teen Galaxy Australia for Australia Galaxy Pageants, and represented Victoria in Sydney on Saturday ... Charlotte was the only one chosen from Victoria.

Fashion show of handcrafted textiles debuts at Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster Art in the Park

Prepare to be stunned by the Boonkaj Fashion Parade, taking place at the Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster, Art In The Park, on Sunday 21 May. The Boonkaj Collection celebrates the “emerging or coming out” of designs by five textile artists from the Waringarri Aboriginal Arts in Kununurra, Western Australia.

Landscape exhibition comes to St. Arnaud

Russell Halden's work is influenced by the environment, having spent a great deal of time in the Bamah Forest with his father and brother, camping, fishing and hunting, acquiring a life-long love of the Australian bush, the colours, foliage types, difference with the seasons and weather conditions ... With many family connections in the region, including his brother currently living in St. Arnaud, and their great grandmother once residing at Beasley's Bridge, this exhibition is a homecoming of sorts.

Nation’s largest gathering of harnessed draught animals at authentic heritage event

Planning is underway for the nation’s largest gathering of harnessed draught animals, The Good Old Days Festival, at Barellan in southern NSW on September 30-October 1, 2023. The committee is putting together a full program of authentic heritage events ... Barellan Working Clydesdale Committee member Bruce Bandy, and Aleks Berzins, of Exeter, will drive a team of over 20 heavy horses pulling a wool wagon around the arena.

Rally of the Heartlands driver gives back to the Burra community

A strong connection to Burra, its community and the iconic Midnight Oil House has seen the creation and generous donation of a collectable jewellery masterpiece by Melbourne jeweller Glenn Bakker; to the Burra community, through the Regional Council of Goyder during this year’s Shannon’s Rally of the Heartland ... He has since spent the last 12 months creating an exquisite piece of art which he has named the "Midnight Oil House-Burra".
