Recognising the Centenary of the iconic Cobb & Co, who played a vital role in Australia’s royal mail service, a special commemorative Cobb & Co ‘Carrying mail on Australia’s Last Run’ – First Day cover and Maxicard stamp sets with Surat Postmark will be released by Australia Post on August 13 to celebrate the 100-year milestone and Australia’s last coach run. The new stamps will form part of the centenary celebrations at the Cobb & Co Festival...

The highly anticipated Rockhampton River Festival program is now live! Mark your calendars for next weekend, from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28, as Rockhampton gears up to host River Fest X. This year’s festival, themed “Reflection,” celebrates a decade of growth, transformation, and community spirit in the region since its inception in 2014.

This weekend you can enjoy the attractions and hospitality of Allora. It’s just an easy 15 minute drive north of Warwick and you’ve arrived at the Best little Town on the Downs.

The program for the 2024 Goldfields Gothic Festival has been announced and it promises to be another celebration of all things mysterious and darkly glamorous. Spread across the weekend of Friday 2 August to Sunday 4 August, the festival will feature poetry, parlour games, spectres and stories plus magic and lots of music.

Allora’s Clint Kenny brought home some good wins from the Heavy Horse Festival held over the weekend. His mount Rivoli Royal Revelation was a stand out with two 1st prize wins.

The Warwick Chapter of the Historical Motorcycle Club of Queensland will host their 30th Anniversary Rally in Allora this weekend with riders coming from Northern New South Wales, Brisbane, Townsville, Brisbane and all around South East Queensland. At least 140 riders and pillions with their precious bikes will gather at the Allora Showgrounds.

Maldon in Winter Festival started last Friday with a full moon, a rush of steam and sparks flying from the enormous bonfire hosted by the Maldon Lions Club ... The bonfire was planned to coincide with the winter solstice, but a full moon on the same night only happens every 20 years.

Narrandera's Rockin’ on East Festival has unfortunately been discontinued following the sudden disbandment of its organising committee. The festival has been attracting visitors from far and wide to Narrandera during the October long weekend since its inception a little over nine years ago ... Ultimately, it was decided that the festival could not proceed.

The upcoming Words in Winter festival promises diverse sessions exploring crime, ideology, farming, self-publishing, history, and memory. Attendees will delve into the impacts of crime in small communities, the influences of political ideologies, the journey of saffron farming, the intricacies of self-publishing, Melbourne’s history and ancient memory techniques applied in the modern world.

Cambooya Hall will play host to the Festival of Small Halls on Wednesday, 24 July. ECMA award winning Quote the Raven, formed by Jordan Coaker and Kirsten Rodden-Clarke ... Hailey Calvert ... Thousands of people were welcomed through the gates of the South Grafton Aerodrome on June 16 as the Grafton Aero Club hosted its popular annual attraction Wings and Wheels for 2024 ... the historic line up of classic and touring cars, hot rods, motorcycles, go-karts, tractors, and vintage engines, with a collection of aircraft including helicopters, gyros, and warbirds...

Michelle Dorian. The temperature is dropping but the anticipation is rising: the Maldon in Winter Festival is coming to town! With the theme of ‘Let There Be Light,’ this year’s festival is shining a spotlight on many of Maldon’s hidden gems for both visitors and locals.

Patricia Gill. A return to a community focus drew 380 artists at the Denmark Festival of Voice packing seven venues for 55 acts over the recent long weekend. First-time festival director Abbie Pedersen was honoured to be part of a long legacy established by previous directors.

This month, book fair volunteers have started sorting through the collection of Vintage, Antique and Classic Books. Sorting vintage and antique are easy. Any hardcover book printed between 1918 and 1978 can be called vintage and any book printed before 1918 can be called antique.

What is it about a street parade? ... Beef Week Street Parade draws a massive crowd into the CBD ... St Mary’s Primary School principal John O’Brien wore an 80s inspired outfit and with the students sang 80s hits  Poison  (Alice Cooper) and  Girls Just Want to Have Fun  (Cyndi Lauper) as they walked behind a truck where a gorilla(!) played drums.

It's the time of year when many people start wearing beanies. The Alice Springs Beanie Festival is almost here, and we recently had a visiting tutor, Tanya Hattingh, conduct workshops at various venues to help create entries for the festival.

The 2024 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is a celebration of the mountain and adventure sport world.  Sharing over 2 1/2 hours of the most exhilarating short films from  explorers, runners, mountain bikers, skiers, paddlers and climbers  from around the globe.

Thirty six artists were programmed to perform on Friday in front of a near capacity hall as big hats, coloured hair and cowboy boots became normal attire.
