What is happening at the gallery, well I will tell you. Our Paint a Skateboard Exhibition has opened. This exhibition has an absolute wow about it, so many different ways to make a deck look fantastic.

An innovative portrait project at Uniting Caroona Yamba by renowned local artist Harry Westera is uniting residents and staff, fostering a friendly community and preserving precious memories ... When his wife Grace, a Pastoral Carer at Caroona Yamba suggested he volunteer he took up the opportunity, and in 2 years he has hand drawn 91 portraits of residents, 52 of which adorn the walls of Caroona, with more being added regularly.

Tweed-based Wiradjuri artist  Hannah Lange has been awarded the top prize in the 2024 Wollumbin Art Award (WAA) with a stunning painting paying tribute to traditional First Nations weaving entitled Weaving by the River. The artist also wins a two-week residency at the Gallery’s Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence Studio.

Cascade Art Gallery reopened after a winter hiatus on Thursday 5 September with a beautiful exhibition of David Moore’s 51 paintings of sky, landscape and domestic objects ... Starting at an early age David learned to paint under the guidance of his father and mentored by Sir William Dargie CBE and Harley Griffiths, who was responsible for restoration at the NGV.

Angela Hart from Nobby has been named as one of fifty finalists in The Australian Artists Awards for Emerging Artists ... Angela has been an artist for many years and as part of the local Back Road Artists group has contributed to exhibitions in local galleries and art spaces.

Jimmy Willing. I was lucky enough to grow up with a couple of Neville Cayleys hanging in the family home. It has always amazed me that my father owned these treasures from another time but in the 20th Century they were not considered art, merely scientific drawings!

Sebastian Calderon. Creativity was united with a great community environment for an iconic annual event held last Sunday at Loxton. Arts on Terrace beautified Loxton’s East Terrace … with more than 20 local shops exhibiting artwork … The Live Mural painting performed by Jarred Loxton and Scott Rathman gave attendees the opportunity to see the artists transform a blank canvas.

The opening of the “Driven” exhibition on Saturday ... at the Charlton Courthouse Gallery was a highlight on the cultural calendar for the artists, gallery committee, and many in attendance. Featuring the textiles and paintings of Kate Giakimis, ceramics by Genevieve Navarre, metal sculptures by Joel Thiesz and Joe Durie, and paintings by Chris Wyatt, the mix of materials used and the quality of the work, proved a hit with visitors.

Joanna Tucker. Wallaroo artist Debbie Seater is branching out into horror movies. The reigning Kernewek Lowender Art Prize winner has supplied works for a new film by director Simon Tait, which is being produced in Adelaide and is slated for international release.

Whimsical works by Copper Coast artists Julie Cheshire and Claudia Bollmeyer will be among a feast of art on display in August for the annual South Australian Living Artists festival. Their joint exhibition at Kadina’s Ascot Theatre is one of five to be held on Yorke Peninsula during the festival.

The St Arnaud Raillery Hub Gallery is thrilled to announce the upcoming exhibition, “SHAC – Soldiers Hill Artist Collective,” set to officially open on July 27. This exhibition features a diverse array of artworks from the eclectic Soldiers Hill Artist Collective (SHAC), a community-based group of artists with roots in the historic Soldiers Hill area of Ballarat.

Brisbane artist Elena Churilova had no idea where Bentley was ... She was worried she was going to be late and miss the announcement of the winners. Luckily, she made it in time to win four major categories scooping $4350 in prize money.

The vote from the Bentley Art Prize People’s Choice is in and the winner is …. Kevin Lawlor from Lismore ... crowds came to Bentley Hall to view 500 artworks.. One of those art pieces was a watercolour painted on 100 per cent cotton canvas by Kevin Lawlor titled  The Greys.

Local magpie family, known as Hilary, Martin and Princess have come first in the wildlife section of the Camberwell Rotary Art Show. Captured in gouache (watercolour) on paper, local artist Robyn Riley has propelled the trio to stardom.

Sarah Herrmann. Kadina Memorial School created its biggest whole-school artwork yet as part of National Reconciliation Week ... More than 1400 students’ and staff members’ handprints went into creating a rainbow eucalyptus tree on a large canvas ... “It looked quite bleak when it was just a few little handprints… but once we got a third of the primary school on there you could see it start to take shape."

Artist Uncle 'Deadly' Arthur has been transforming Wyreema State School, last Wednesday completing various pieces of Indigenous artifacts around the school environment.

Serena Kirby. Denmark's newest painting group is encouraging artists to step outside and embrace the great outdoors. Taking its name from the French word for ‘out-of-doors’ the ‘plein air’ painters group is the brainchild of Kat Lamb who started the group two months ago.

Joanna Tucker. Local artist and past winner of an Our Mob exhibition award Cedric Varcoe has been sharing his culture through creative avenues for decades, and you may have already seen examples of his work. Mr Varcoe, who grew up at Point Pearce, has been painting since he was a child, inspired by his family, the stories of the Narungga and Ngarrindjeri people...

Nancy Whittaker. Imagine the possibilities when four creative artists let their imagination have its way. And the imaginative approach of world-renowned children’s author, Jen Storer ... Kareen Anchen Cascade Art Gallery Director wrote that in "The Power of Imagination": Einstein famously stated, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

Honor Auchinleck. The opening of the MFSR Bush Festival’s Art and Photography Exhibition last Thursday evening was memorable for the opening speech of Dr Jonathan King OAM. Dr King organised the first modern bush festival in 1995 ... talented local artists and photographers set a high standard and impressed the exhibition patrons.

Philip Adams. Central Goldfields Art Gallery has a new exhibition ... The impact of place is the theme that unites Jackie Gorring, Philip Adams and Craig Barrett who are contemporary artists living in Central Victoria on Dja Dja Wurrung country.  

Colour is uppermost in the mind when you view Craig Gough’s latest exhibition, which is on show at Cascade Art. The exhibition was officially opened by Linden New Art Director and CEO Dr Vincent Alessi last Saturday.
