Central Darling Shire Council, Media Release, 14 May 2026

The Ivanhoe painted water tower project has been completed and it is already capturing the imagination of local residents and visitors to the region.

The artist, Krimsone, has been working hard over several weeks to successfully create the stand-out project. The end result is bold, colourful and slightly quirky highlighting Ivanhoe on the tourism stage as a landmark that is unmistakable and memorable.

The design brings together the full story of Ivanhoe: its community spirit, its pastoral history, its Indigenous connections, and its unique flora and fauna. Every element was carefully chosen to reflect the identity of the town and the land it sits on.

In October last year the Council announced it was investigating the feasibility of painting the water towers and asked for community views on a design.

Council received strong community support and feedback relating to the project.

Central Darling Shire short-listed three artists. Krimsone was the stand-out candidate for the job having completed a number of water towers with very positive reviews at Nyngan (Bogan Shire Council), Milbrulong & Tottenham (Lachlan Shire Council) and Hillston (Carathool Shire Council).

The project, which was funded by the NSW Government, aims to enhance community pride, attract visitors, and create a landmark for the town of Ivanhoe.
