Rest stop heart attack turns into miraculous survival

Recent stories

As David Anderson travelled back home to Stanthorpe from a trip to Toowoomba, little did he know a rest stop at Allora would leave his life hanging in the balance.

David had just exited the public restrooms when he suddenly collapsed to the ground, unresponsive.

Confirming that David was in cardiac arrest, bystanders immediately began providing effective CPR, before paramedics arrived and were able to resuscitate David with a defibrillation.

David’s recovery highlights the chain of survival, where every set of circumstances had to go right to give responding paramedics a chance at bringing him back. If David had still been driving or collapsed out of sight, paramedics may have been presented with a very different situation.

David will meet with the paramedics and other first responders at a reunite at Warwick Ambulance Station.
