21 artists, 9 creative development projects, 150+ participants
NORPA, Media Release, 10 July 2025
Announcing the launch of Dinner Party at the End of the World — NORPA’s ambitious new multi-artform program exploring stories of community, resilience and hope in a time of crisis.
We’ve engaged a remarkable team of artists, each leading a creative development project in collaboration with Northern Rivers residents.
Artists and participants will respond to the climate crisis using a range of performance practices — including theatre-making, play, improvisation, dance and text. Together they’ll reflect on the many stories of strength, generosity and the enduring spirit of our region.
Dinner Party at the End of the World is led by Artistic Director Julian Louis and Artistic Associate Heather Fairbairn, with contributing artists including acclaimed playwright Suzie Miller, film maker Poppy Walker, and a team of Associate Artists — Bridie Hooper, Fred Copperwaite, Jade Dewi Tyas Tunggal, Kaz Therese, Kimberley McIntyre, Mitch King, Naomi Feller, Noa Rotem and Sprung Ensemble.
As the year progresses, we’ll share updates and opportunities for you to get involved in this ambitious multi-artform program.
National recognition for NORPA
We’re proud to share that Dinner Party at the End of the World has been awarded support through the Creative Futures Fund — one of Creative Australia’s most significant investments into arts projects to date.
Chosen from a highly competitive national field, this support places NORPA among just 20 projects funded across the country. A total of $7.8million will be invested in extraordinary large scale works that push boundaries and bring distinctly Australian stories to the world.
This recognition speaks to the strength of NORPA’s creative vision and our deep commitment to collaborative, innovative, regional storytelling that resonates on a national and global scale.
