The Birchip Community Leisure Centre (BCLC) is celebrating a significant boost thanks to the generous support of Cargill Cares, which has donated $25,000 to help fund the installation of a new and much-needed coolroom.
The coolroom will be a game-changer for the centre, improving food storage and service capacity for the many community events, sporting functions, and private gatherings held at the venue throughout the year.
BCLC President Fiona Best said the donation was a timely and welcome investment in the town’s key community asset.
“The Leisure Centre is a hub for Birchip. Whether it’s footy or netball events, local celebrations, or fundraisers, this facility brings people together,” she said.
“The new coolroom will make a real difference to how we cater for our community, and we’re incredibly grateful to Cargill Cares for their generosity and ongoing commitment to Birchip.”
Cargill Cares is the philanthropic arm of Cargill Australia, which supports grassroots initiatives that enhance the wellbeing of rural communities.
Local farmer and Cargill representative Andy Barber said the donation reflected Cargill’s strong connection to the region and belief in the power of community.
“We’re proud to support the Birchip Community Leisure Centre and help deliver practical improvements that will be used and appreciated by so many people in the town,” he said.
The coolroom installation occurred just in time for the Winter sports season, adding to ensuring the centre remains a vibrant and functional space for all.
The BCLC committee extends its heartfelt thanks to Cargill Cares for helping keep Birchip’s community spirit cool, fresh and strong.
