Murray River Council is bringing vibrant new artwork to local primary schools through a creative mural project, delivered as part of our Council’s Arts and Culture Strategy.
Each school will have the opportunity to collaborate with Mathoura artist Zowie Crump to determine the design and location of their mural, ensuring it reflects the unique identity and values of their school community.
Artist Zoe Crump, who also works as a creative arts primary school teacher, said the artworks are a collaboration with the schools.
“Some schools have got the students to do the drawings, and then I put them together and create the mural out of that. Othere schools have given me ideas, and then I come up with the design with them,” said Zoe
“Moulamein wanted things from the local area. They came up with the cod, a red rumped parrot, or more commonly known as a grass parrot, and the ring tree that is in Moulamein.”
Completing the artwork on Sunday, the Moulamein School students were greeted by the colourful display on Monday.
Murals are also set to be completed at Bunnaloo, Tooleybuc, Barham and Wakool/Burraboi primary schools.
