Last Saturday night, we had the privilege of hosting Martin Lartigo live at the Port of Yamba Yacht Club – and what an incredible night it was. In our intimate clubhouse setting, Martin wove together intricate, delicate pieces with passion and vigour, looping sounds into a rich, moving performance that brought the crowd to tears, laughter, and cheers. It was a true showcase of musicianship, and a reminder of how special live music can be when experienced up close.
Thank you to everyone who supported the evening by attending. Events like these highlight the importance of getting behind local community clubs like ours. Every ticket sold, every drink poured, and every person who walks through our doors helps keep our little club vibrant, welcoming, and alive. Community spaces like this are rare and precious – they thrive when we all take part.
On the water, last Wednesday’s race gave us everything you could ask for from Mother Nature – big gusts up to 25 knots, waves rolling through the river, a strong incoming tide, and even a splash of rain for good measure. Conditions swung from calm, sunny skies to a full workout on the winches, before easing back into fair-weather sailing.
That’s the beauty of racing each week – rain or shine, strong breeze or gentle puffs, we head out and learn. True seamanship isn’t about waiting for the perfect day; it’s about showing up and handling whatever the river and sky throw at us.
Don’t forget, our club bar is open every Friday night from 5pm. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, catch up with friends, and watch the sun set over the marina with a drink in hand.
And mark your calendars… our next Pot Luck dinner is Saturday May 3. Bring a plate to share, meet some new faces, and enjoy a relaxed evening at the club.
Whether it’s music, sailing, or simply sharing a laugh, there’s always something happening at the Port of Yamba Yacht Club. See you soon!
