Geoff McDougall and champion kelpie Ace recently won the open section of the South West Slopes Championships Working Dog Trial.

The trials were run as part of the annual Gundagai Show.

Yard dog trials are competitions that test the skills of dogs and their handlers in guiding sheep around a course. The trials simulate the work of sheepdogs in the livestock industry.

Competitors and their dogs start with 100 points and judges deduct points for mistakes.

The winner is determined over three rounds.
