Maldon secured the 2024 Premiership on Saturday with a nail-biting victory over Carisbrook. Maldon played an outstanding third quarter when they kept Carisbrook’s scoring to a minimum when they had a strong breeze blowing their way. Carisbrook led by 3 points at three-quarter time, but it wasn’t enough. Maldon proved too good, coming away with a 5-point win. Maldon star Riley Davey received the medal for a Best on Ground performance.

Best on: Riley Davey, Cal Buchanan, Brodie Doyle, Blayne Cananzi, Ryan Burchell, Jack Smith.

What a weekend and what a way to end a year. The U17 girls played an ultimate game on the weekend in their grand final. The first quarter was a slow start, with Natte taking a one-point lead at the change 8-7. The second quarter saw the Maldon girls fire and were able to ensure that their defence was on point. It was then a case of the last two quarters that the team were able to apply more pressure on Natte. There was a moment where Natte responded in the third quarter to bring back the lead from the Maldon girls to 2 goals; however, the experience and athleticism of the Maldon team, with their support for each other, were able to take a 5-goal lead into the last quarter. The final quarter was just maintaining the lead and the centre passes and the team showed just how well they have combined during the year to be the best team for 2024 in the U17 competition.

Best on court awarded by the umpires: Tiffany Williams.
