An innovative creativity workshop for young people is coming to Corryong next month.
Parallel Wilds is an immersive a cutting-edge 3D creative writing platform for youth, empowering self-identity in the natural world and a speculative universe on the future of species and wilderness, set in the year 2050. Featuring mind mapping and creative writing on the future of native species, 2024’s projects are engaging youth with a 360 camera and 6ft tripod, sound recording, digital photography and design technology.
Parallel Wilds 2023 Young Somerset based project ‘The Stream of Freedom’ won the Group Category in 2024 national exhibition of the UK Creative Freedom Award.
In 2023, Parallel Wilds had two 10-week school residencies with Creative Victoria and Regional Arts Victoria. The project empowers youth in creativity and engendering positive social agency in a 2-day or 3-day workshop.
The teams work with creative director, Craig Dent and Justin Dallinger, Oakley 3D Studios.
Another of Parallel Wilds’ mentors is Walwa-based Mia Bettio, who is currently completing a masters in environmental science at Charles Sturt University.
The local two-day workshop will be held on Monday September 30 and Tuesday October 1, 2024 at the Nariel Valley Recreation Reserve, comprising four-hour sessions each day from 10am-3pm (allowing for travel, with an hour break for lunch).
