The Ganmain Bakery has reclaimed the title of Best Bakery in the Riverina for the seventh year in a row.

The award is part of the Triple M Riverina MIA Best Awards that spotlight the best of the Riverina in 12 different categories.

Co-owner of the Ganmain Bakery, Anna Murphy, believes the success of their family-run bakery can be attributed to their passion for what they do.

“We’re really, really proud of [the award], especially because it’s a family-run business,” she said.

“It’s our livelihood, and we’re all in. We just want to make people happy and have had our small town supporting us through it all.

“My husband, Ben, is also very creative with everything he does, and I think you just have to have the passion for the job.”

Ben Murphy, has been a baker for 30 years and is now the head baker for Ganmain Bakery.

The couple’s eldest son will also be following in his father’s footsteps and is set to become a certified baker very soon.

Although they have only owned the bakery for around nine years, they have become a well-loved part of the Ganmain community.

Mrs Murphy shared that listening to what their community wants has aided in their success.

“We’ve been asking for a lot of feedback lately… and since we’ve done that, we have been getting a lot of good feedback,” Mrs Murphy said.

“We listen to what our community wants and if we get enough requests, we try and make it happen, which is why we have around 30 different kinds of pies on offer at different times.

“Even now, we’re going to try and put Kranskys in our bread that we make here after some requests.

“Other winners of the competition included Dom’s Pizza Parlour, which won Best Pizza; New Oceanic, which took Best Fish and Chips and Best Burger; Heavenly Hair Skin & Nails, which was named Best in Hair and Beauty and Good Talk, which claimed Best Community Group.

The Best Pub went to The Blamey, the Best Coffee was claimed by Pot ‘n’ Kettle Coffee House and the Best Butcher was awarded to That Butcher Shop.
