Out of 169 police graduates, Richmond Police District gets two

169 probationary officers graduate from the Goulburn Police Academy today Friday, June 21.

The graduates include 122 men and 47 women.

Out of the 169, two will be based in the Richmond Police District, four in the Coffs Clarence Police District and two in the Tweed Byron region.

These student police officers from Class 362 will be the first to have been fully paid to study as part of their training and will start work with the rank of probationary constable.

The recruits begin work at their stations on Monday, June 24.

While many recruits are born in Australia, this year the graduating cohort is also made up of students from diverse backgrounds. 142 were born in Australia and 27 were born overseas. Their countries of origin include England, Brazil, Afghanistan, Iraq, Thailand, Philippines, Sweden, USA, Croatia, South Korea, Ireland, Fiji, New Zealand, Vietnam, China and Poland.

Seven recruits are indigenous.
