Congratulations to Julie Hough, who as from 1 July will be the first woman to be appointed Captain of the Walmer Fire Brigade. That’s a great achievement!
Julie joined up as a CFA volunteer in 2012 and has steadily risen through the ranks ever since. She is well qualified and has a few roles at the Walmer Brigade – she’s the Comms Officer, the Health & Safety Officer, is trained in first aid, is licensed to drive trucks and has been part of a few strike teams.
Other women playing operational roles at the Walmer Fire Station include First Lieutenant Sue Luke and Community Safety Coordinator Deanna Neville.
