All the fun of the fair

Starting tonight with the Great Aussie Scone Bake, there’s plenty of fun at the five-day Maldon Easter Fair. There’ll be a range of family-friendly events at the 147th Fair.

Thursday: Take the family to see the tower lights turn on at 7pm, followed by some friendly competitions and, of course, the Great Aussie Scone Bake.  

Friday: Start Good Friday with the combined open air church service at the Beehive at 10.30am. If the weather turns inclement, the service will be held at the Baptist Church in Templeton Street. Afterwards, stroll up to the Vintage Engine Rally at the Vintage Machinery Museum.  

Saturday: The Easter market gets off to an early start at the Beehive Chimney at 9am featuring the Maldon Brass Band in concert from 11am. From 10am the Vintage Engine Rally continues and includes Chalkboard Live Music.  

The Maldon Golf Club’s Hole-In-One competition kicks off at noon – come and try your luck! From 6pm, the Golf Club is selling hot dogs and steamed dim sims in Main Street before the big Saturday night event – the Maldon Fire Brigade’s torchlight procession at 7pm, followed by the hugely popular Dancing In The Street.  

Sunday: In the morning, the Vintage Engine Rally and Chalkboard Live Music continue at 10am, and the Hole In One continues from 10.30am at the Golf Club. At 1pm don’t miss the billy cart event at the top end of Vincents Road, Maldon – it’s heaps of fun for contestants and spectators alike. At 6pm, make sure you catch the movie at the Machinery Museum – Night at the Museum.

Monday: Beginning at 9.30am with street entertainment, it’s the big day…! The Maldon Easter Fair grand procession begins at 10.30am and is followed by the Grand Raffle Draw and the Bendigo Lion Dancers and more. The Vintage Engine Rally is open again from noon.
