Newstead Brigade unveils Field Command Vehicle

Recent stories

Kerry Cain, Tarrangower Times

Last Saturday, the Newstead Fire Brigade impressed attendees at the Newstead Pool Party by showcasing its latest addition, the Field Command Vehicle (FCV).

With this specially equipped vehicle, the brigade can now respond more effectively and decisively to emergencies of all kinds and direct and deploy its appliances and personnel, as well as those of other services, as required. This vehicle carries a driver, an incident controller and a ‘penciller’ who records the controller’s directions. Where the previous vehicle had three radios, this new one has five. This enables the controller to communicate directly with command vehicles from other areas during a major fire.

The FCV is the first of its kind to be stationed at Newstead, dramatically expanding the Brigade’s capacity to handle emergencies. Pool party-goers were entertained and received valuable information during the demonstrations and the Q and A session.

The Newstead Fire Brigade’s recent acquisition of the FCV significantly enhances the town’s emergency response capabilities. The brigade’s efforts to ensure that they are well-equipped and prepared to handle any emergency are a testament to their commitment to the safety of their community. Don’t forget to support the brigade by purchasing some of their fine barbecue food at the Newstead Market tomorrow (Saturday 16 March).
