Cassie Fikri from The Yard Narrandera won the women’s all round half marathon at Batemans Bay at the weekend.
Her time was one hour and 39 minutes, which is a personal best for her.
Cassie started running only last year with the Bidgee Bolters running group of Narrandera Bidgee Fitness Inc who have supported, trained and encouraged her.
The talented athlete is committing to 12 running events this year, one per month, in order to raise money for a charity dear to her heart, Reaching for Korina.
Korina is a friend and mother of two young children who became a quad amputee from Sepsis (blood poisoning) and is bound to a wheelchair.
When Cassie runs every step counts for Korina and every dollar raised by Cassie’s runs will go to aid Korina’s rehabilitation.
Korina is on a long journey of prosthetic limbs and learning to become a little more independent.
