Australia Day celebrations in Grong Grong started with a flag raising in the park followed by festivities at the Royal Hotel Grong Grong.
Yabby races were held and this year Royal Hotel Grong Grong donated a $100 voucher as prizemoney and Grong Grong Anglers Club bought a Trophy to stay at the pub. This year’s winner was AJ Gillespie.
There was also a best dressed person award of a $100 voucher donated by Trims Collective for the winner.
The Anglers Club again donated a trophy and the winner was Nathan Bensch.
A best dressed vehicle competition saw Matt and Jodie Cottom from MJC Auto donate a $100 gift voucher and the Anglers Club a Trophy. Matt and Jodie couldn’t decide on just one winner so they also donated a second prize of $25. The winner was Adam Conway and runner-up Sheryl Connelly.
A Spotify roulette whereby participants pick a song and pay $2 and the last song played wins the money. Matt Cottom was the lucky winner of this award.
Many community members pitched in and helped to make the day a great success.
Narrandera Mayor Neville Kschenka, the local ambassador Heather White and the Australia Day Ambassador Doug Hawkins all attended and had a fantastic day.
