The supreme led Welsh exhibit overall for the second year in a row at the NSW All Welsh Show was the Welsh Mountain Pony stallion Waxwing Passport.
The pony, imported from the UK, is owned by Helen Dohan and was shown by Taylah Lee.
Passport also completed the hat trick by winning supreme ridden Welsh exhibit of the show, following on from the same win at both the Victorian and South Australian All Welsh shows this season.
His yearling filly Richdale Pantomime also won a strong yearling filly class, his foal Woranora Springsong was best Welsh foal of show and his part Welsh foal Meadowgrove Peter Pan was the winner of the part Welsh foal class.
Two international judges officiated at this year’s show, which was held at the Hawkesbury Showground, Clarendon.
Jan Pearce from Glyncoch Stud in Wales and David Puttock from Ballan Stud in England joined experienced Australian judges to assess the high-quality fields. The best youngstock Welsh Mountain Pony for the second consecutive year was the three-year-old filly Woranora Susanna owned by Helen Dohan and shown by Taylah Lee.
The supreme led Welsh pony and best Welsh youngstock was the yearling filly Cherrington Lady Jessa owned by Cherrington Stud, with best senior Welsh pony won by the broodmare, Bamborough Pony Stud’s Bamborough Organa. The supreme Welsh pony of cob type was won by Ashley Porter’s Yarrandale Airlee and Ashley’s Vanoca Park Amity was best youngstock. Supreme Welsh cob was won by Kylie Capp’s Nawarrah Park Ingrid with the best youngstock award going to Bronwyn Davies’ Haluma Park Marloes.
The champion newcomer ridden Welsh exhibit was Woranora Nobelman owned by Jessica Luscome and ridden by Ellie Roots.
The supreme part Welsh exhibit was the very consistent two-year-old gelding Rathowen Ruben owned by Roseanne Bowerman and shown by Kirsten Strath.
The best senior part Welsh exhibit, best newcomer part Welsh and supreme ridden part Welsh was Paugren Park Valhalla owned by Paulgren Park Stud.
The best youngstock Welsh gelding was Samantha Roots’ Eagle Park Swish with the best senior gelding and supreme Welsh gelding award going to Kiuna Park Stud’s Seawynd Redford.
The supreme champion ridden Welsh hunter was won by Elvonara Park Wannabe Famous owned by Tara D’hondt from Queensland and the best Welsh progeny group of show was won by two yearling Welsh Mountain fillies for Waxwing Passport.
The showheld home-produced classes for the first time and these were extremely popular.
The supreme led and champion ridden Welsh home produced was won by Yarrandale Airlee exhibited by Ashley Porter. Supreme part Welsh home produced led exhibit was won by Joemoor Pony Stud’s Joemoor Special Girl with the champion ridden part Welsh home produced award going to Joemoor Designer Label owned by Catriona Sviderskas.
Champion working hunter was won by Pant-y-ffynon Hoochie Coochie owned by Lisa Wilczak.
